Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Oath website, mobile app, and related services. By creating an account, accessing Oath, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Oath.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to use Oath.
• You must be legally allowed to use a dating service in your location.
• You may not use Oath if your account has been suspended or removed unless we give you written permission.
• You are responsible for making sure the information you provide is accurate and current.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your device, phone number, and login methods secure. You agree not to create an account for anyone else, impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, or use Oath for commercial or unlawful purposes.

4. Health and Community Information

Oath is built for adults in the HSV community. The app may ask you to provide HSV-related information so we can operate matching, profile, safety, and Oath+ features. Oath is not a medical provider and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or counseling. Always speak with a qualified healthcare professional about medical questions.

5. User Content

You are responsible for the photos, profile details, messages, Lounge posts, reports, and other content you submit. You keep ownership of your content, but you grant Oath a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, process, moderate, and use your content as needed to operate, improve, promote, protect, and provide the service.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that your content does not violate these Terms, the rights of others, or applicable law.

6. Prohibited Conduct

• Harassment, threats, hate, exploitation, bullying, stalking, doxxing, or abusive behavior.
• Sexual content involving minors, attempts to contact minors, or any underage use of the service.
• Impersonation, catfishing, false verification attempts, deceptive profiles, or misleading account information.
• Spam, scams, solicitation, selling, requests for money, paid companionship, or commercial promotion.
• Sharing another person private, medical, contact, or identifying information without permission.
• Uploading illegal, infringing, non-consensual, violent, or harmful content.
• Trying to bypass safety systems, rate limits, paywalls, moderation, account restrictions, or technical protections.
• Scraping, copying, reverse engineering, automated access, or using Oath data to train models or build competing services without permission.

7. Safety, Reports, and Moderation

Dating involves real-world risk. Oath does not guarantee the identity, intentions, health status, behavior, or compatibility of any member. Use your judgment, protect your personal information, and report concerning behavior.

We may review, remove, restrict, hide, or preserve content and accounts when we believe it is necessary to operate the service, enforce these Terms, protect members, comply with law, or investigate abuse. We may suspend or terminate accounts with or without notice when needed for safety, security, legal, or operational reasons.

8. Subscriptions and Payments

Some Oath features may require a paid subscription or paid entitlement. Purchases in the iOS app are processed through Apple In-App Purchase and managed through Apple and RevenueCat. Pricing, renewal terms, free trials, cancellations, refunds, and billing controls are presented in the purchase flow and are managed through your Apple ID and App Store subscription settings.

Deleting your Oath account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. You must cancel any active subscription through your Apple ID or App Store subscription settings.

9. Account Deletion and Termination

You can request account deletion in the app from Me > Privacy > Delete My Account. Account deletion starts a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion. During the grace period, your profile is disabled and you can sign back in within 30 days to cancel deletion. After the grace period, Oath permanently deletes account data according to our deletion process, subject to limited records we may retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or audit purposes.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other members, misused the service, or if we are required to do so by law.

10. Oath Intellectual Property

Oath, including its app, website, designs, branding, software, text, graphics, logos, features, and other materials, is owned by Oath or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from Oath except as allowed by these Terms or with our written permission.

11. Third-Party Services

Oath relies on third-party services for functions such as authentication, hosting, storage, payments, purchase management, push notifications, diagnostics, analytics, moderation, and support. Your use of app stores, payment providers, device platforms, or third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Disclaimers

Oath is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that matches, messages, Oath+ access, verification, recommendations, or member interactions will meet your expectations. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Oath and its owners, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of the service or interactions with other members.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Oath changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice in the app or by other appropriate means. Continued use of Oath after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
