Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 5, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Oath collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile app, and related services. Oath is a dating app built for adults in the HSV community, so some of the information you choose to provide may be sensitive.

By using Oath, you understand that we process your information to operate the app, provide safety and moderation features, support subscriptions, and help members connect with one another.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created through your use of the app, and limited information from service providers that help us operate Oath.

  • Account and authentication information, including your phone number, account identifiers, login status, and authentication metadata.
  • Profile information, including display name, age, gender, location, relationship preferences, interests, biography, photos, verification status, Oath+ status, and other details you choose to add.
  • HSV-related information, including HSV type and diagnosis year if you provide it. These health-sensitive fields are encrypted by our backend before storage.
  • Content and communications, including messages, Lounge posts, reports, support requests, exit survey responses, and other content you submit.
  • Contacts data, only if you choose to enable contact blocking. Phone numbers from your device contacts are hashed on your device using SHA-256 before being sent to Oath; we do not receive plaintext contact phone numbers for this feature.
  • Purchase and subscription information, including entitlement status, product identifiers, purchase events, renewal status, and cancellation status from Apple and RevenueCat.
  • Device, app, and technical information, including device identifiers used for push notifications, app version, crash diagnostics, logs, and security signals.

3. How We Use Information

  • Create, authenticate, and maintain your account.
  • Show profiles, match members, operate Discovery, Messages, Lounge, Oath+, and other app features.
  • Process subscriptions, restore purchases, and manage paid access through Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat.
  • Operate safety tools, including verification, reporting, blocking, hiding, moderation, and account suspension when needed.
  • Send account, match, message, subscription, safety, and support notifications.
  • Debug, secure, monitor, and improve the app and website.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and protect members and the service.

4. Sensitive Health Information

Oath is designed for the HSV community. We use HSV-related information only to provide the app experience, including profile setup, matching, filtering, trust and safety, and Oath+ review features. We do not sell HSV-related information and do not use it for third-party advertising.

HSV-related fields are protected with application-layer encryption before database storage. They are transmitted to Oath over HTTPS/TLS and stored in a form that is not plaintext. Encryption keys are managed separately from the data they protect.

We keep use of these fields narrow. They are used only to operate the app features you request, maintain safety, provide support, comply with law, and complete deletion or export workflows. Access is limited to authorized systems and personnel with an operational need.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate Oath, provide requested features, protect members, or comply with law.

Service providers that receive user information are required to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and to use it only to provide services to Oath.

  • With other members as part of the app experience, such as your visible profile details, photos, verification indicators, messages, likes, and Lounge activity.
  • With service providers that help us run the app, including authentication, database, storage, hosting, payments, purchase management, push notifications, crash reporting, analytics, moderation, and customer support providers.
  • With Apple and RevenueCat for subscription purchase, entitlement, refund, cancellation, and restore-purchase flows.
  • With law enforcement, regulators, or legal parties when required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections for member information.

6. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect member information, including encrypted transport, secure authentication, application-layer encryption for health-sensitive fields, access controls, audit logging, and monitoring.

No online service can guarantee perfect security, but Oath is designed to reduce both the likelihood and impact of unauthorized access, especially for health-sensitive fields.

7. Retention and Account Deletion

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Oath, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, prevent abuse, and maintain security.

You can request account deletion in the app from Me > Privacy > Delete My Account. Deletion starts a 30-day grace period. During that period, your profile is disabled and you can sign back in within 30 days to cancel deletion. After the grace period, our deletion process permanently removes account data such as profile records, photos, messages, matches, contact blocklist entries, push tokens, Oath+ application records, and related app data, subject to limited records we may need to retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or audit purposes.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can update many profile details in the app.
  • You can disable contact blocking and clear uploaded contact hashes from Privacy settings.
  • You can block, hide, or report other members from in-app safety flows.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID and the App Store subscription settings.
  • You can request access, correction, deletion, or export of your information by contacting us at info@oathdating.com.

9. Age Requirement

Oath is only for adults who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an underage person has created an account, we will take appropriate steps to remove the account.

10. Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as Oath changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice in the app or by other appropriate means.
